1840-O Liberty Seated Half Dime. Drapery. AU-53 (PCGS). CAC. This pretty piece exhibits iridescent gold, blue and pearl gray patina to the obverse, the reverse dressed in lighter antique silver and pale olive. Satiny in texture with sharp to full detail over most design elements, this is an impressive AU for an issue that is scarce to rare in all grades. From a mintage of just 240,000 pieces, EF and AU survivors ranked Rarity-6 by Al Blythe in the 1992 reference The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Half Dimes.
