Lot Description

Really a lovely piece, both sides sport richly original autumn-brown patina with hints of olive engaging some of the design elements. The strike is ideally centered on a choice, round, hard planchet that is free of significant flaws and pitting. Otherwise sharp for the type, the impression comes up a bit short in the centers, where some natural planchet texture remains. No marks, spots, or other blemishes of note apart from an old, dull nick on King George's neck that does not detract. This is a superior Wood's Hibernia copper at the certified Choice AU grade level, the overdate reverse die further enhancing its desirability.
