- 1867 Pattern Silver Three-Cent Piece. Judd-560, Pollock-621. Rarity-7+. Copper. Plain Edge. Proof-64 BN (PCGS). Secure Holder. The obverse and reverse are struck from the regular dies but on a copper planchet instead of the regular silver-copper blend. Both the obverse and reverse are toned light brown with a soft blend of iridescence when examined under a light. Fully and completely struck on every device and carefully stored since the time of issue. Apparently the finest of three or four known, PCGS records two grading events as Proof-62, and this example is the finest at Proof-64, all in the Brown category for the Judd-560 issue. An enticing offering for the pattern specialist who demands quality and rarity.
