1844/1844-O Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-22, FS-301. Rarity-4. Doubled Date. AU-55 (NGC). Impressive and rare Choice AU preservation for this dramatic RPD variety in the Liberty Seated half dollar series. Peripherally toned, especially on the reverse, both sides exhibit silver gray centers. Boldly defined overall with plenty of luster shining forth from the fields as the surfaces dip into a light. Among Liberty Seated half dollars this is one of the most spectacular varieties. When seen, examples are usually in lower grades. The present offering is indeed remarkable. The date was mispunched high with all four digits visible above and overlapping both the primary date and the rocky base which supports Liberty.
