Offered is a truly outstanding, breathtakingly beautiful example of both the type and issue. Nearly pristine surfaces really need to be seen to be fully appreciated, such is the vividness and variety of toning that adorns both sides. Reflective fields shines forth powerfully as the coin dips into a light, the design elements razor sharp in strike with a softly frosted texture.<p>According to records, 550 Proof sets were produced, of which 430 sets were sold initially and a handful sold later on. The trimes were of very high quality and a number of stunning examples are known. However, most are in grades of Proof-65 and lower, seldom finer. At NGC Proof-67+ this is one of the very finest known; none have been certified finer in this category by PCGS or NGC. An ideal jewel for an advanced type or Proof date set.<p><p>
