- This is a scarce type that, when offered, is just as likely to be in nice and attractive AU or Mint State as in lower circulated grades with problems. Examples seem to have followed one of two routes: either into the hands of collectors in Europe, or into commercial channels on one side of the Atlantic or the other, where they saw heavy use. In fact, while the Voce Populi coppers were not intended for America, many did make it here, and at least one Voce Populi farthing has been found in American soil. That offered here presents uncommonly well for a moderately circulated survivor. The surfaces are even deep copper-brown with all major design elements bold apart from the expected softness in the centers. The magnified view shows pleasing smoothness overall, both sides with just a hint of granularity and no significant marks. The obverse is clashed with outlines of the seated figure, exergual line and a couple of peripheral letters from the reverse discernible with patience.
