Lot Description
1864 Liberty Seated Dime. Fortin-102a. Rarity-5. MS-63 (PCGS). This richly toned piece is awash in blended olive-gray and steel-russet. Boldly struck with soft mint luster. Produced during the Civil War era in which silver coinage was not seen in commerce in the East and Midwest, the 1864 Liberty Seated dime has a paltry circulation strike mintage of 11,000 pieces. Survivors are scarce in all grades, Mint State examples such as this particularly desirable among specialists. PCGS# 4639. NGC ID: 239M. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
