Lot Description

130.8 grains. Deep olive brown with a few lighter gray deposits on the effigy's face. Natural striated lamination flaws on both sides, a bit more aggressively so on the right reverse. Centered a little high and to the left on both sides, illustrating slight misalignment of the dies as this is struck in medal-turn orientation. Seemingly of similar quality to the ex Colonel Green-Newman coin, graded AU-55 by NGC, that realized $1,560 in our November 2024 sale. That piece had a better planchet, but this has better detail.
