Lot Description

1869 Liberty Eagle. AU-50 (PCGS). A tinge of haziness and light glossiness to the surfaces point to a cleaning, although this piece does retain considerable luster in a semi-prooflike sheen. Dominant reddish-khaki color, with few abrasions that we deem individually distracting to the eye. Similar in overall rarity to the 1858, 1859-O, 1863-S and 1866-S Motto, the 1869 Eagle is an elusive find in all grades due to an original mintage of just 1,830 pieces.
