- Obv: Standard Silver design with a bust of Liberty facing right, a plain ribbon ornamented with a single star on her head. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is on a scroll below. Rev: An open wreath of oak and laurel surrounds the denomination 10 CENTS with the inscription STANDARD SILVER above and the date 1869 below. Pleasing deep and varied iridescent toning suggests long storage in a paper envelope. The fields and devices are nicely preserved with no apparent handling marks, and the strike is bold to full on the devices. While issued in moderate numbers - as part of pattern Proof sets, for sale to contemporary collectors - few examples of this Judd number survive in Gem condition. This rare CAC-approved specimen would be a perfect selection for the advanced pattern specialist.
