A VERY RARE and important doubled die obverse variety, this is the Red Book listed doubled die. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST and LIB are doubled. The surfaces are boldly lustrous and show just the faintest trace of friction on the surfaces. A blush of pale iridescent gold and pearly sliver adds to the wonderful eye appeal. PCGS 9, NGC 10, CAC 3. The most recent example to sell brought $5,900 in November 2021 and this coin, sold in the 2013 FUN auction brought $10,281.
