Lot Description

The same design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1868 Liberty Seated dimes. Dusted with pale silvery tinting, this boldly struck and nicely composed specimen presents as brilliant at many viewing angles. A regular dies trial striking, per traditional numismatic wisdom, although actually deliberately struck by the Mint for sale to contemporary collectors as part of off-metal Proof sets. Judd-649 is a rarity with only seven examples traced on the <em>uspatterns.com</em> website.
