1856 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-61 (NGC). Smartly impressed with vivid orange-gold patina, this satiny and minimally abraded example has the appearance of a higher Mint State grade. An otherwise plentiful issue by 1850s Liberty Head half eagle standards, the 1856 is elusive at the present level of preservation, this coin representing a fleeting bidding opportunity for the specialist.
