Losbeschreibung: A VERY RARE date with a Full Step designation and this is a very well known coin--it is the second finest graded piece at PCGS. Very well struck, all of Montecello's steps are fully separated and defined. Likewise, all the other details of Jefferson's beloved home are crisply rendered with full details to the structure's famed portico. As expected for a very high grade coin, the surfaces are boldly lustrous with only a few microscopic marks. The 54-S is a real stopper in the series with a fully struck design and of similar rarity to the famed dates in the early 1960s. PCGS 1, NGC 1. While there is a single coin finer, neither this coin, nor that one have sold in auction. The finest to ever sell in auction was a toned MS65+ that sold for $12,925 in a weak 2016 FUN auction.
