Losbeschreibung
1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 67-v, W-5510. Rarity-1. Head Right. AU-53 (PCGS). CAC. Deep golden brown with a mix of subtle olive tones. Natural planchet roughness -- as struck and not unusual for the variety -- comes to light on both sides under low magnification. The devices are crisp and well-presented throughout, and the ye appeal is substantial. A pleasing New Jersey copper that would be an ideal addition to a burgeoning state coinage type set. PCGS# 521. Provenance: From S.H. and H. Chapman's sale of the Richard Boswell Winsor Collection, December 1895, lot 212; Hillyer Ryder Collection; F.C.C. Boyd Estate; and our (Stack's) sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part I, October 2003, lot 210.
