- FROM THE INCLINE COLLECTION An important coin in this world class offering. The 1943 Doubled Die obverse is a KEY issue in the series. The doubling is most evident at LIBERTY and 1943, though there is distinct doubling also at IN GOD. Most dramatic is the doubling of Jefferson's eye. This SUPERB example is tied for FINEST graded at PCGS, and fewer than a handful exist in such a lofty state of preservation. Boldly lustrous surfaces are blast white and ultra brilliant, yielding to just a hint of streaky gold patina. Sharply struck up, this SUPERB GEM is virtually perfect, free of all but the most insignificant tiny tick or two. The doubling is quite bold. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 4, NGC 0. Only two have ever sold in auction, and this older holdered example was NOT one of them. The most recent example sold for $5,405 in April 2015, but the other one realized a record $11,500 back in 2009! The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,500, essentially the average of both APRs. An exceptional SUPERB GEM that is worthy of the number 1 set on the PCGS Set Registry. Cert. Number 6571199 PCGS # 84174
