1856-S Liberty Head Eagle. AU-55 (NGC). Lustrous for the grade with overall sharp striking detail, handsome orange-gold patina enhances the appeal of this premium quality Choice AU eagle. A scarce to rare issue in all grades, most of the 68,000 eagles struck in the San Francisco Mint during 1856 have long since been lost to commercial use.
