1856-O Liberty Seated Dime. Fortin-108a. Rarity-4. Medium O. MS-64 (NGC). A highly lustrous specimen with a sharp strike and some faint golden tones on both sides. Struck from shattered dies, see below. Not far off the mark for the "finest certified" category at NGC. This coin is actually a later die state than Fortin-108a, but not quite as advanced as Fortin-108b, where a reverse cud has formed near the left stem end. The present specimen shows heavier, more pronounced cracks than seen in the photo at the seateddimesvarities.comwebsite. Worthy of a close look from advanced Liberty Seated dime specialists.
