1863-S Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. AU-58 (PCGS). Sharply struck overall with nearly full mint luster, this attractive medium golden-orange example is very close to Mint State. The 1863-S, with a mintage of 10,800 pieces, suffered a high rate of attrition through commercial use. Fewer than 100 examples are believed extant in all grades, the vast majority of which grade no finer than EF.
