Lot 396 1855 N-9 R1 Italic 55 Knob-on-Ear. PCGS graded MS-65+ Brown. CAC.Beautiful frosty medium brown and light chocolate with faded mint red in protected areas on the obverse. A premium cent; lustrous and nearly flawless. A spot of slightly darker toning on the midpoint of the front edge of the neck and a tick on the rim under the second 5 in the date are the only marks. Sharply struck M-LDS, die state f, with a bold "Knob" break at the top of the ear. A wonderful example of this very popular "Redbook" variety, and the strong "Knob" break is a big plus.
