1927-S Buffalo Nickel. MS-64 (PCGS). This frosty and smooth-looking Choice Uncirculated example is dressed in pleasing warm silver-apricot patina. Unlike most other mintmarked Buffalo nickels from the 1920s, the 1927-S typically comes with a bold to sharp strike, as here. On the other hand, Mint State survivors of any quality are elusive, most examples from a relatively limited mintage of 3,430,000 pieces claimed by circulation. PCGS# 3962. NGC ID: 22SA.
