1843-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 9-F. Small D. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC. The 1843 Small D variety is much scarcer than its Medium D counterpart, from the same date and mint. To date (5/12/2023), PCGS has graded 269 examples of the Medium D type, but only 52 Small D pieces. This is a lovely Choice EF coin with warm, even, rose-olive color that attests to its originality.
