Lot Description

The Bootheel Collection. Overton-104. The 1806/5 overdate may be found on four different die-marriages, but O-104 is decidedly the choicest since the underlying "5" continues to display strong remnants beneath the overstruck six. Here is an example that features surface quality of remarkable, original color and preservation, with a particularly nice obverse where lavender-grey and coral-gold mingle within peripheral devices. The reverse appears about a full shade darker since it delivers a strong majority of the same lavender-grey, along with mostly ebony accents in the periphery. The merest wisp of luster persists, as becomes the "extremely-fine" grade level.
