1722 Rosa Americana Penny. Martin 2.1-A.1, W-1256. Rarity-5. VTILE DVLCI. AU-55 (PCGS). An impressive near-mint survivor of the scarce VTILE DVLCE type. Predominantly deep reddish-brown with a few splashes of brassy-yellow. Well-preserved surfaces that still retain subtle mint frost in the fields - something seldom seen on this or any variety of Rosa Americana penny. A few small patches of ancient corrosion on the reverse take little away from the quality and appeal of this piece. Provenance: From the Collection of David N. Kass.
