Lot Description

Breen Die State I. Well blended chestnut and olive-brown patina greets the viewer from both sides. The obverse is boldly defined for the PCGS-assigned grade, the reverse a bit less so with some softness to the peripheral letters and, especially, those in the denomination ONE CENT. Scratches over and around the bottom of Liberty's portrait are noted, as is overall microgranularity to the surfaces on both obverse and reverse, these attributes requiring a somewhat lower EAC grade relative to that on the third-party certification holder. A rare Sheldon number from a key date Liberty Cap cent issue in an eminently collectible state of preservation.
