1859 Pattern Liberty Seated Quarter. Judd-234, Pollock-281. Rarity-7-. Silver. Reeded Edge. Proof-65 (PCGS). Obv: from the standard quarter dollar die of the circulating issue. Rev: a small and more delicate eagle than on the circulating reverse style and with Anthony Paquet's trademark tall-style lettering. Additionally, the denomination is spelled out fully rather than the standard QUARTER DOL. in use for the circulating coins of the date. The frosty motifs and mirror fields are alive with vivid orange and peach iridescence throughout, and splashes of deep royal blue engage the rims. Tied for finest of the variety certified by PCGS. The uspatterns.com website indicates this variety is: "The Paquet reverse design with tall letters. Fewer than a dozen are known." A Gem both physically and aesthetically.
