Lot Description
This is an absolutely divine example of the first year of the Lincoln Matte Proofs. It is virtual perfection, with uber smooth fields, bold RED color, brilliantly lustrous surfaces, and razor sharp devices. Totally original, this coin offers a band of deeper red toning along the lower left reverse rim, angling up from below the right tip of the wheat stalk, and up and along the lower edge of the left wheat stalk. A single fleck, across from the U in UNITED also serves a a pedigree marker. The eye appeal is awesome in every way. PCGS 8, NGC 0, CAC 5. This SUPERB GEM sold in our August 2020 Regency Auction for $12,925. Prior to that, one sold for $13,513 in December 2019. The current PCGS Price Guide value listed at $13,000 and the CAC CPG value is listed at $14,400. Just four are graded finer at PCGS, and the values jump to $31,500 in PR67+ RD and $70,000 in PR68 RD. This is an incredible survivor worthy of the FINEST of Matte Proof Lincoln Registry Sets! Expect the bidding to be impressive! Cert. Number 37277946 PCGS # 3305
