Lot Description

1817/3 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-2. AU-58 (NGC). Rich lavender-gray patina dominates the outward appearance of this piece, although both sides do reveal splashes of more vivid reddish-apricot iridescence as the surfaces dip into a light. Most features are boldly defined, to include the all-important 3 underdigit, and there are no outwardly distracting abrasions to report. A very popular overdate in a highly desirable sate of preservation.
