Lot Description
An altogether pleasing example of the date, the present coin is far finer in-hand than the catch-all grade of MS-60 suggests. Deep yellow-gold with a decided orange cast throughout, this gold dollar enjoys much luster that is unbroken on the high points and a crisp, full strike. From a modest mintage for the date of just 3,000 pieces. Magnified scrutiny reveals some planchet roughness that failed to strike out at press time, but no other prominent marks are noted. The obverse appears to have been thumbed at some point in the past, which probably accounts for the MS-60 registration. Still, this is a coin that should be seen to be appreciated. Housed in an older-style PCGS holder with green label and frame around holder. PCGS #7579 Pedigree:
