- A satiny and golden-tinged example with full striking detail to virtually all design features; even the central crossbands on the reverse show bold to nearly complete delineation. With a mintage of just 1,520,000 coins, the 1926-S Mercury dime is one of the scarcer issues in the series and is one of just seven issues with mintages of fewer than two million coins. Mint State examples are elusive and become increasingly so as you approach Gem condition. When striking quality and Full Bands qualification are considered, this population is even further limited. Researcher David W. Lange describes Gem Full Bands examples as "frustratingly rare," which does well to describe the truly challenging nature of this issue. This is a just-miss example, thoroughly PQ for the MS-66 assessment from PCGS and CAC, and it is sure to sell for a strong premium to an astute bidder.
