1857 Braided Hair Cent. N-2. Rarity-1. Small Date. MS-64 BN (PCGS). CAC. OGH. A wholly original example with remnants of faded autumn orange color to otherwise medium brown surfaces. Satiny and tight, both sides are smooth in hand and at the uppermost reaches of the assigned grade level. The strike is a bit soft around much of the obverse periphery, but other areas exhibit sharp to full detail. The old style PCGS insert uses coin #1928, which is now reserved for the Large Date Guide Book variety of the 1857 Braided Hair cent. PCGS# 1931. NGC ID: 226P.
