- Popular for mintmarked gold type purposes, the 1907-D is the second of only two Denver Mint issues in the Liberty Head eagle series. Even so, Uncirculated survivors are scarce for a 20th century issue in this series, especially relative to the sizeable mintage of 1,030,000 pieces. Clearly the 1907-D suffered a higher rate of attrition through melting than many of its contemporaries. Light hairlines and a few faint scratches account for the MS-61 grade from PCGS, but the in-hand appearance is relatively strong due to sharp strike detail, appreciable luster, and vivid golden-apricot color.
