- 1871-S Liberty Seated Quarter. Briggs 1-A, the only known dies. VF-30 (PCGS).
Attractive olive and dove-gray patina blankets remarkably smooth, problem free surfaces for this mid grade quarter from the earlier years of San Francisco Mint coinage. In a series replete with underrated rarities, the 1871-S stands out as one of the most elusive Liberty Seated quarters from this coinage facility. Survivors from a paltry mintage of 30,900 coins represent a significant find at all levels of preservation.
Provenance: From the Lincoln Square Collection.
PCGS# 5480. NGC ID: 23UP.
