1871 Pattern Quarter Dollar. Judd-1100, Pollock-1236. Rarity-7-. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-65 BN (PCGS). Obv:Liberty is seated left wearing a Native American headdress, her right hand supporting a pole topped by a liberty cap and her left hand resting on a globe inscribed LIBERTY. Two flags are behind the portrait, 13 stars encircle the periphery, and the date 1871 is below. Rev:The same design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1871 Liberty Seated quarters. Smooth and mark-free, the surfaces have toned to a deep olive-brown color. Cobalt-blue accents are seen here and there. A wonderful, Gem quality piece for the advanced pattern collector.
