Lot Description
1859-O Seated Liberty Silver Dollar. MS-64 (NGC). One of the finer examples of this date to survive and the present coin is toned with vivid rose-gold and orange hues with a dash of blue at the rims. While the 1859-O became an overnight celebrity when a couple of original bags turned up in the 1960s, these coins were virtually all quite baggy, most at the MS-60 to 61 level today. As always, the finer the quality, the higher the price, so when this MS-64 beauty crosses the block, expect considerable attention which it well deserves. Tied with a small group of 16 at this grade level as seen by NGC, and topped by a single, solitary example at the gem level. A prize for the great toning, great luster and great surfaces.
