Lot Description

Breen Die State VI. Several prominent cracks and extensive flowlining on both sides confirm the fascinating late die state. The surfaces are free of notable post-production blemishes and sport antique-gold and orange-copper obverse toning with deeper chocolate-brown patina on the reverse. The denticulation at upper left is beyond the planchet on both sides, and the word OF is soft at upper right reverse, but otherwise this is a boldly to sharply defined coin that reveals little in the way of actual wear. Ranking among the top dozen or so survivors from the Sheldon-167 dies, the Widmer Family specimen is a CC#5 or 6 coin for the late die state.
