Lot Description
1892-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 1-A, the only known dies. Die State I. MS-61 (PCGS). Crisply impressed with razor sharp definition throughout the design. Satiny in texture and bathed in warm honey- gold patina, this is an attractive Mint State example that would do justice to an advanced Carson City Mint gold collection. The scarcest 1890s half eagle from this coinage facility, the 1892-CC has an extant population of only 500 or so coins from a mintage of 82,968 pieces. With most survivors grading EF or AU, this Uncirculated example offers absolute scarcity as well as condition rarity. PCGS# 8380. NGC ID: 25Y7. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
