Undated (1795) Washington Liberty and Security Penny. Musante GW-45, Baker-30, W-11050. Copper. ASYLUM Edge. AU-58 BN (NGC). This satiny and attractive example exhibits splashes of steel-olive on otherwise reddish-brown surfaces. Boldly defined for the type and free of all but a few inconsequential marks. Though the penny denomination was not common in early America, these Liberty and Security issues are known to have circulated in the United States and have been found archaeologically stateside. High grade survivors, occasionally preserved in English token collections of the era, are quite scarce today. PCGS# 767. Click here for certification details from NGC.
