Lot Description

Flashy and totally original, this SUPERB 1909 Proof half dollar is a marvelous example! Vivid, flashy mirrored fields have a bold reflection that is uninterrupted by any lines or hairlines of any kind. The mirrors enliven the totally original, tissue paper type toning. Blue, olive, tan, and gold hues really come to life over the silver surfaces. Sharply struck frosty devices stand out though not with a cameo contrast. The eye appeal is wonderful. Only 650 Proofs were struck. PCGS 11, NGC 17, CAC 4. The last one to sell in auction brought $5,250 hammer in our March 2017. The current CAC CPG value is listed at $5,940 and the current Collectors Universe value is $4,250 because of the non-CAC quality coins that have sold for cheap prices.
