An incredible quality SUPERB GEM, tied for FINEST graded at PCGS and a world class example of this conditionally challenging date. A brilliant, satiny mint luster radiates in the fields surrounding well struck devices. A precision blow rendered the devices with crispness not often seen (Liberty's thumb, often lacking in separation from her torso, is fully outlined). Both the obverse and reverse possess a very attractive, delicate patina. Visually very appealing, and essentially flawless, we do not know what CAC saw that precludes approval. In all this is an exceptionally high grade example that will delight even the pickiest of Walking Liberty half dollar collectors. PCGS 12, NGC 13. The most recent example to sell realized $40,800 in June 2021, and that was the first MS67 to sell since May 2005! Clearly not only are 44-S Walkers EXTREMELY RARE so fine, they also are in solid hands, tucked away in the infamous "black hole" of collections.
