- A pleasing example of this elusive date with pinkish-gold color throughout. Despite the fact that nearly three million of these were coined by the ever efficient San Francisco Mint, this effort went into catastrophic reverse in the late 1930s when virtually the entire mintage was melted back into ingot form. Only several hundred of these managed to survive in all grades, most tucked away in European bank vaults while the melting storm swept over our nation. Solid eye appeal for the modest assigned grade.
