Lot Description

1847-C Liberty Half Eagle. MS-61 (NGC). Bright and lustrous for this scarce date and mint, with a strong strike on the devices. Toned with attractive orange-gold with hints of copper on the high points. Examination finds the usual light scuffs and nicks, as well as a couple of broken scrapes that were strategically deflected by the devices as designed. Mintage of 84,151 pieces for the year, with perhaps 300-500 around today, most well circulated. In mint state these are quite rare with perhaps a dozen or so that qualify.
