Losbeschreibung
Brilliantly flashy silver surfaces shine blindingly all over! As expected for the 67 grade level, this coin has no hairlines, ticks, marks or carbon spotting. The strike is full and the fields are fully reflective, boldly prooflike and display rich mirrors. The eye appeal is superb! A very rare SPECIMEN STRIKE New Rochelle half dollar. During the production run, mint employees struck 50 examples on polished planchets after polishing the dies. What keeps them from being full PROOFS, is that each coin was struck only once, rather than two or more times as required for striking proofs. PCGS 11, NGC 6, CAC 12. Only three are finer at PCGS: 2 are graded SP67+ and there is only one SP68 finest. We sold a PCGS SP67 without CAC sticker in our September 2016 Regency Auction for $17,625. Since then, PCGS/CAC have brought between $12,000 and $13,000. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $17,000. While overall, the classic commemorative market has shown softness in the last few years, Specimen and Proof strikings have done well and are interesting pieces for the advanced, specialist collectors. Opportunity knocks loudly here. Cert. Number 35447962 PCGS # 99335
