45.99 grains. <strong>Obv:</strong> Similar to the adopted Shield nickel design, but the date is divided by the ball of the shield and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is expressed in tiny letters. The remnants of an errant T can be seen in the field slightly past the final letter T in TRUST. <strong>Rev:</strong> The Dutch 5 reverse. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around a laurel wreath with a fancy 5 for the denomination within. Boldly lustrous with reflective fields, frosty motifs, and pale champagne-gold highlights throughout. At 45.99 grains, this piece is light even for a Thin Planchet example of the type, which the <em>uspatterns.com</em> website report at a weight of 54 grains.
