Smooth, billowy mint luster flows over surfaces that are brilliant apart from crescents of vivid toning at the left obverse and, to lesser extent, reverse borders. The strike is crisp, the level of preservation outstanding, and the eye appeal is equally exceptional. This kind of superior quality would be rare even on a later date Washington quarter; to have it on an example of a semi-key date San Francisco Mint issue from the 1930s is truly remarkable.
