- 1805 Draped Bust Dime. JR-2. Rarity-1. 4 Berries. VF-30 (PCGS).
Attractive silver-gray surfaces with warm olive-russet outlines to most of the design elements. Al major features are bold, and plenty of sharper detail remains in the more protected areas. Despite a mintage of 120,780 pieces - the second largest production figure of any Draped Bust dime - only two varieties of the 1805 are known and are best distinguished by the number of berries on the reverse. The 4 Berries reverse, JR-2, is more available than the 5 Berries variety, and this attribution serves as the ideal representative for both type and date collectors.
Provenance: From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911.
