Undated (Circa 1663-1672) St. Patrick or Mark Newby Halfpenny. Vlack 5-D, W-11540. Copper. Reeded Edge. Medium Obverse Letters. VF-25. 137.9 grains. Tan devices contrast with glossy black fields, finely granular under a glass. The reverse shows some larger pits and a patch of raised corrosion at base. Dented at central reverse, obverse now convex. Splash ideally centered. Decent sharpness and eye appeal despite its defects. Craige priced this at $175 ca. 1970, and noted in pencil on the back of the envelope "maybe D Coll. if restored." We don't know who D is, but apparently he didn't like scyphate Saint Patricks.
