1873 Liberty Half Eagle. Close 3. MS-64 (PCGS). A frosty and lustrous rose-gold specimen with lively orange iridescence in the protected areas. The strike is relatively crisp for a half eagle of the era, and the eye appeal easily supports the given grade. The present beauty is among the finest examples of the date certified by PCGS; just a few 1873 Close 3 half eagles have been graded finer than the present piece by that firm.
