- 1797 Draped Bust Cent. S-123. Rarity-4. Reverse of 1797, Stems. MS-62 BN (PCGS). The PCGS insert misattributes this coin as an example of the Reverse of 1795, Plain Edge <em>Guide Book </em>variety. The arrangement of leaves in the reverse wreath (16 left, 19 right), confirms this as the Reverse of 1797. Undoubtedly pedigreed to the Nichols find, this handsome crimson-brown example is seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a Mint State type set. The obverse is particularly well struck with the finer elements of Liberty's portrait crisply delineated. Suitably bold on the reverse, with no mentionable blemishes on either side save for a minor planchet flaw (as made) in the obverse field before Liberty's throat. Very nice at the BU grade level!
