1871 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-1051, Pollock-1185. Rarity-6-. Copper. Plain Edge. Proof-65 RB (PCGS). Obv: similar to the circulating nickel three-cent pieces of the era but on a larger scale. Rev: large laurel wreath, V / CENTS within, CENTS curved, V reversed, thick side on viewer's right. The deep rose-brown surfaces exhibit frosty motifs, reflective fields, and a wealth of rich blue and rose iridescence. No blemishes or marks of any note are seen, even under low magnification. Choice for the grade.
